DSCN1826Good for you, you’ve given up on drinking sodas for water and  you are no longer swinging into the nearest fast-food burger joint. Instead, you are creating some wonderful, fresh salads. But wow, did you realize you’re still pouring on the calories by drowning your salad in a high calorie salad dressings that are either filled with fat from processed oil or laced with high fructose corn syrup or refined white sugar.

Maybe you just don’t know how many calories are in that dressing.

Here’s a list of the most popular no-so-waist friendly, higher calorie salad dressings. Prepare to be amazed. And then check out a few of my alternative dressings posted here.

Generally around 150 calories per 2 tablespoon serving and most of those calories come from fat! And are you really able to only eat 2 tablespoons?

Blue Cheese

Much like ranch dressing, depending on how much blue cheese is actually in the dressing, most also contains about 150 calories per 2 tablespoon serving.

160 calories per 2 tablespoon serving? Wow! This has even more calories than ranch or blue cheese.

With 11 grams of fat, it’s 109 calories per 2 tablespoon serving. It’s also pretty high in sodium which we should avoid as well.

A Caesar salad is often what’s served at your staff or workshop lunch or dinner buffets, and it’s a dining-out staple, but the dressing is loaded with calories, around 155 calories in each 2 tablespoon serving. However, most of the time the dressings already been added your salad, so you really have no control on those extra calories then!

Amazing, isn’t it? Now that you a bit more aware, hopefully you will choose some versions that don’t emphasize unhealthy fats and sugars.

In this section, I’ll also put some delicious spreads and sauces like my “Kick-Ass Ketchup” that will go well with your fresh or cooked veggies and dishes.

Cheers, Karen
