Healthy Holidays

I love Thanksgiving. It’s a time to be with family and friends and to celebrate. It can also be a stressful time trying to do everything for everyone. And of course this takes us right into the holiday season where there are often too many parties and social gatherings to navigate. Soon, it starts to be difficult to keep focused on a healthy lifestyle.

I’m here to help and support.

There are many wonderful and healthful dishes to be made from the simple four food groups: vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains.

If you focus your meals on these four groups and limit your use of refined sugars, added oils and rich sauces, you won’t need to count calories or watch your food portions.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has a wonderful interactive Power Plate that when you click on it, it leads you to the four food groups as well as simple and delicious recipes. I encourage you to check it out!

Cheers, Karen
